Nexus Care Services Managing Director, Tinga Umera, has been nominated for Registered Care Manager of the Year at the Staffordshire Dignity in Care Awards 2026.
The nomination recognises Tinga’s contribution to adult social care across Sutton Coldfield, Lichfield, Tamworth, Shenstone and Staffordshire, where he leads a team delivering more than 2,000 care calls each week to over 180 clients.
Tinga brought a background in banking, finance and business advisory to the role, building robust commercial foundations for Nexus’s recent success.
As the son of a carer, he has combined that commercial grounding with a first-hand understanding of what good care looks like, shaping a culture in which the needs of service users and the ambitions of staff carry equal weight.
This year has also seen Tinga lead two significant milestones for the organisation. He was instrumental in opening a new office in Shenstone, creating a base from which Nexus can better serve communities in Aldridge, Lichfield and Tamworth.
He has also pioneered a new CQC licence for the Treatment of Disease, Disorder or Injury (TDDI) that will allow Nexus to extend into complex care services sector, adapting its support to people’s nursing needs across a wide range of conditions.
On his nomination, Tinga said: “Being nominated for Registered Care Manager of the Year is a real honour, but it reflects the work of the whole team at Nexus, not just me.
“Every one of our carers shows up every day with compassion and professionalism and it’s that consistency which makes the biggest difference to the people we support.
“I’m proud of what we’ve built together and this nomination is as much theirs as it is mine.”
Tinga has helped to reshape how the organisation supports its own staff too, moving away from zero-hour contracts to offer fixed hours and a guaranteed salary, expanding access to NVQs and advanced training and introducing a four-day week for the office team to support better work-life balance.
The Staffordshire Dignity in Care Awards celebrate individuals and services that go above and beyond to protect and promote dignity in adult social care across the county.
Winners will be announced at an awards evening on Thursday 24 September 2026 at the Staffordshire County Showground, Weston Road, Stafford.
