Read moreIf you are expecting surgery or have recently had a hip or knee replacement, it’s important to understand how your life may be impacted and what support you may need.
The recovery time from these surgeries ranges from four to six weeks so it’s essential for you to have access to the you need until you make a full recovery.
Hip Replacements
Hip replacement surgery is a common procedure performed on patients suffering from severe hip pain and limited mobility.
You may be offered a hip replacement if you have severe pain, reduced mobility or your quality of life is affected in other similar ways.
Recovery time can vary, but most patients are able to return to normal activities within a few months after surgery. However, during this time, you’ll have reduced movement and will need to use walking aids such as a Zimmer frame or crutches.
Hip replacement surgery can provide significant relief from hip pain and improve overall quality of life for many patients. However, as with all surgeries, you’ll need to plan for changes to your mobility and you might need some support following your surgery.
Knee Replacements
Knee replacement surgery is a common procedure used to treat severe knee pain and disability caused by osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and other joint related conditions.
Knee replacement surgery involves removing damaged or diseased parts of the knee joint and replacing them with artificial components made of metal, ceramic, or plastic materials.
Recovery time can vary, during your recovery you will not be able to drive for six weeks and you may be asked to administer injections to yourself as part of your post-surgery medication.
