We are extremely proud to have celebrated the first anniversary of Nexus Events and commemorated the occasion by holding a social gathering!
Nexus Events, part of our wider Nexus Case Services group, has enjoyed an incredible first year in which we have hosted a number of days out, trips and get-togethers for elderly people across the Midlands.
This has included popular trips to Blackpool, Bakewell and Chatsworth House, and regular afternoon teas and local coffee mornings.
Our aims for Nexus Events are to combat loneliness and support our clients’ independence by delivering events supported by our highly skilled carers and offering accessible transport.
In the last year, we have managed to make a real impact within Sutton Coldfield, Tamworth and Lichfield, not only with our own regular events but by helping people enjoy organised nights away and holidays on demand.
This was highlighted earlier this year when we supported 91-year-old great-grandmother, Beryl, from Sutton Coldfield to enjoy a trip of a lifetime to America, where she got to meet her great-grandson for the first time.
Monica Paraschiv, our Events Manager, said: “We have been blown away by the response to what we offer and are regularly seeing the number of people that join us increase after each event.
“I think the success of Nexus Events is a clear indication of the demand within our local community for supported activities for older generations, which provide a space to socialise and have fun.”
Our celebratory gathering took place on 11th July and was a resounding success, with fun, laughter (and cake) had by all. It was a great chance for guests to relive memories of the trips they had been on in the past year, and to learn more about future trips that we have organised.
Tinga Umera, our Managing Director, said: “Nexus Events was born out of the pandemic, where we saw growing social isolation amongst older people, whose normal lives were curtailed by the restrictions in place.
“Loneliness can have a devastating impact on people’s lives and so we wanted to do our bit to combat it and provide a fun and engaging service that supports individuals to live independent and enriching lives.”
