We were delighted to welcome a visit from our local Member of Parliament for Tamworth and the Villages, Sarah Edwards, to discuss the future of Nexus Care Services and the wider challenges facing the care sector.
Our Directors, Samuel and Tinga, sat down with Sarah for a wide-ranging conversation covering some of the most pressing issues in care today, from recruitment pressures and apprenticeships to workforce development and the long-term impact of an ageing population. They also explored the lasting effects of the Covid pandemic on care providers.
It was a genuinely valuable opportunity to ensure that the voice of the care sector is heard at the highest level.
As a provider delivering more than 2,500 care calls each week across Tamworth, Lichfield and Sutton Coldfield, we know first-hand the dedication it takes to support vulnerable residents and deliver the kind of preventative, community-based care that also helps ease pressure on the NHS and wider public services.
We were pleased that our MP expressed a commitment to taking the concerns of the sector back to Government and we look forward to seeing that advocacy in action.
In fact, Sarah has agreed to o visit our Shenstone offices in July to help promote homecare within the surrounding villages, hamlets and parishes and praised us for wanting to expand our support and help reach those in more isolated communities.
The conversation also touched on exciting opportunities to strengthen our links with other local organisations.
Tinga said: “We are grateful for the support from Sarah in connecting with partners across the area as we look to expand our outreach and community engagement work, something we feel passionately about as a business that is deeply rooted in the communities we serve.
“We were also thrilled to receive personal congratulations on our recent Business of the Year win at the Royal Sutton Coldfield, Lichfield & Tamworth and Cannock Chase Chambers of Commerce Awards 2026, held at Statfold Country Park.
“Recognition like this means a great deal to the entire Nexus team and reflects the incredible work our carers and staff carry out every single day.”
We are looking forward to welcoming our MP to our Shenstone site later this summer and to continuing this important conversation about the future of care provision in the local community.
