Passionate carer Hira Sumar shortlisted for West Midlands Care Association Award

Hira Sumar, a passionate member of the Nexus Care Services team, has been shortlisted for the Excellence in Care: Senior Carer award at the West Midlands Care Association Awards.

The shortlisting recognises Hira’s support of both Nexus’ clients and her role as a guide to other carers coming up through the ranks at Nexus Care Services, which serves the home care needs of communities in Sutton Coldfield, Lichfield, Tamworth, Shenstone and the surrounding areas.

Hira takes her responsibilities around safeguarding and confidentiality seriously and keeps her training up to date through Nexus’s ongoing programme of courses, covering areas such as safeguarding and data protection alongside medication management.

She applies this knowledge consistently, recording client information accurately and securely through Nexus’ clever PASS app to build a clearer picture of people’s health.

She is also working towards further qualifications alongside her day-to-day role, treating every client with dignity and respect and understanding the importance of protecting their privacy and wellbeing at every stage of their care.

Her professionalism reflects the wider standards at Nexus, which holds a Good rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and a score of 9.9 out of 10 on homecare.co.uk, built on genuine feedback from the people it supports.

Hira’s careful approach to client care plays a direct part in maintaining these standards and her willingness to adopt new technology has helped raise standards across the wider team.

Commenting on the shortlisting, Samuel Court, Director at Nexus Care Services, said: “Hira thoroughly deserves this recognition. She has incredible passion for the care she delivers and is always there to help others when they need it.

“She holds herself to a really high standard when it comes to safeguarding and professional development and she encourages others around her to do the same.

“We are incredibly proud to see her shortlisted at these prestigious regional awards.”

The West Midlands Care Association Awards celebrate individuals and teams across the care sector who have made a significant contribution to improving standards in community, nursing and residential care.

The Association has represented the care industry across the region for over fifteen years, offering support to providers alongside its annual awards programme, which this year will be held at Copthorne Hotel in Merry Hill on 16 October.
