Nexus Care Services shortlisted for Innovation in Home Care award

Nexus Care Services has been shortlisted for the Innovation in Home Care category at the Leaders in Care Awards 2026.

The shortlisting recognises a year of change across the Midlands-based care provider, which has spanned improvements to digital reach, investment in care technology and the launch of new clinical services.

As an example of its innovation, Nexus is currently integrating an AI-powered chatbot into a brand new website, built from the ground up with search engine optimisation and generative engine optimisation at its core.

This positions the service to be found not only through traditional search but through the AI tools that families increasingly turn to when researching care options.

The organisation has also expanded its use of PASS, the care planning and monitoring system that underpins how care is scheduled, recorded and reviewed.

Alongside this, Nexus invested in Lottie and its connected CRM system, Found, to streamline the enquiry-to-care journey.

On the clinical side, Nexus has secured a new CQC licence for Treatment of Disease, Disorder or Injury (TTDI), moving the organisation into nurse-led complex care.

Led by one of the Midlands’ leading clinical nurses, this allows Nexus to support people with more complex needs at home rather than in hospital, easing pressure on the NHS while keeping people where they want to be.

This progress has been matched by tangible growth. Weekly care calls have risen from over 2,000 to more than 2,500.

Assessments have exceeded 200, and the organisation now supports hundreds of clients in Sutton Coldfield, Lichfield, Tamworth, Shenstone and the surrounding areas.

Commenting on the shortlisting, Tinga Umera, Managing Director at Nexus Care Services, said: “Being shortlisted for Innovation in Home Care is a brilliant recognition of the work our whole team has put in this year.

“We set out to challenge how home care is delivered and discovered, from the way we use technology to the clinical services we now offer, and it’s fantastic to see that ambition recognised.

“This has been a genuine team effort, and I’m proud of everyone who has helped us reach this stage, from our care staff to those working behind the scenes on our digital and clinical services.”

In April, Nexus also opened a new office in Shenstone, extending its reach into previously underserved areas including Aldridge, Lichfield and Tamworth.

The office was recently visited by local MP Sarah Edwards, a former NHS worker, who has since become an active advocate for the role Nexus plays in the community.

“It has really been a landmark year for us and we are now really excited to see what the next stages of our growth in the year ahead, as we continue to seek new innovations that improve care for people in the Midlands,” said Tinga.

The Leaders in Care Awards, run by Home Care Insight and Care Home Professional, celebrate the providers, suppliers and individuals shaping the future of social care, from outstanding care homes and home care innovators to the frontline teams and leaders who guide them.

This year’s ceremony takes place on 6 October at the Forest of Arden, on the eve of the Care Show in Birmingham.

Winners will be revealed at a black-tie evening featuring a drinks reception and three-course dinner, in front of hundreds of care sector professionals.
