New nurse-led service helps West Midlands families with complex care needs

Nexus Care Services, the family-run home care provider based in Sutton Coldfield and Shenstone, has launched a nurse-led service for people with complex or long-term health needs.

The award-winning care provided was recently granted a Treatment of Disease, Disorder or Injury licence by the Care Quality Commission, allowing it to add complex care to its roster of existing home care services.

The service is overseen by a leading team of registered nurses and is designed to help people stay safely at home rather than face an unnecessary hospital stay or a move into residential care.

The new service supports people managing conditions, including diabetes, dementia, COPD and heart failure, as well as those recovering from a spinal injury or a brain injury and those needing palliative and end-of-life care.

Every care plan that Nexus intends to deliver is built around a clinical assessment carried out within 72 hours of first contact, whether the request comes from a family, a hospital discharge team or a social worker.

“We started Nexus Care Services with the simple aim of giving people the same safety and oversight they would get in a clinical setting, without having to leave their own home.

“Extending that into nurse-led care is a natural next step for us. We are really looking forward to supporting people and local care commissioners with our new service, which allows us to provide a care pathway throughout a person’s full life,” said John Court, founder of Nexus Care Services

The service builds on the home care and live-in care that Nexus already delivers across Sutton Coldfield, Tamworth, Lichfield and the wider West Midlands.

The company is already regulated by the Care Quality Commission for these services, is rated 9.9 out of 10 on Homecare.co.uk and was named Royal Sutton Coldfield Business of the Year at the start of 2026.

“So many of the families we support tell us they want their loved one to stay at home for as long as possible, even when their health needs become more complex.

“This service means we can now be there for that family right through, from the first visit to the most specialist nursing care,” added Tinga Umera, Managing Director of Nexus Care Services.

“Our clinical team can’t wait to start serving more people within the local community.”

Families interested in the new service or professionals looking to make a referral can contact Nexus Care Services on 0121 308 2906 or via nexuscareservices.co.uk.
