Nexus Care Services reflects on its history and looks to the future

As Nexus Care Services marks its tenth anniversary, we want to reflect on our journey of growth and innovation.

From its inception, Nexus has evolved, adapting and expanding its services to meet the changing needs of its community.

The story began in 1992 when our founder John Court launched Firstpoint Healthcare, which quickly grew into an international success, including 18 offices across the UK and additional branches in Australia and Canada.

The growth continued with the addition of Routes Healthcare in 2004, enhancing the network with eight more offices dedicated to providing skilled nurses and carers to the NHS.

In 2009, the tradition of excellence was carried forward by Primera Healthcare, and by 2014, the focus shifted to a more specialised service with the creation of Nexus Care Services.

This new venture was centred solely on domiciliary care, reflecting John’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those receiving care at home.

The evolution of Nexus didn’t stop there. In 2021, the organisation launched Nexus Retail and Advocacy services, helping clients access necessary services and products.

A year later, Nexus branched into the events sector with Nexus Events, providing care-supported events and trips, further diversifying its offerings.

Most recently, in 2023, our company extended its reach internationally with the launch of Nexus Inc. in Florida, bringing its unique approach to home care to the United States.

Today, we manage over 2,000 care calls each week throughout the West Midlands.

Our commitment to quality care is reflected in our “Good” rating from the Care Quality Commission and our perfect score from an independent regulator, based on feedback from service users.

This recognition underscores our status as the leading home care provider in Sutton Coldfield, Lichfield, and Tamworth.

Looking to the future, we have ambitious plans to spread our person-centred approach more widely, as we support individuals and introduce more workers to the rewarding field of care.

“We are immensely grateful to everyone who has supported us through this journey,” said John Court, Founder of Nexus Care Services.
