Gerald and Sandra’s Story*

After Gerald’s wife Sandra left the hospital, the couple were able to benefit from eight weeks of care provided by the local authority.

This early intervention was essential to helping Sandra, as Gerald was still in work and needed someone to help Sandra with everyday tasks.

However, as the eight weeks of care came to an end, Gerald knew he needed continued home care for Sandra and so set out to find the right care provider for their needs.

“I knew that we would have to pay for care ourselves for a short period before I retired and so we looked for a temporary solution,” explained Gerald.

“The local authority provided some suggestions for trusted local home care providers and I was impressed with Nexus’ competitive fees and commitment to fitting in with our schedule. We also liked how local they were to us.

“One of the key problems we had with the initial care we received was that we never knew when our carer would turn up, and it was really frustrating.

“The initial consultation that Nexus conducted at our home was very helpful. It allowed them to find out exactly what we needed, including a thorough assessment of Sandra’s care requirements.”

Gerald said that he was impressed with how much better Nexus Care Services were than the previous care that had been provided by social care services.

The carers came in each day in the morning and evening to help Sandra with everyday tasks, like getting ready and dressed.

“Everyone we met was very friendly and helpful, and they got on very well with Sandra, which was important to me. They went above and beyond to help us.”

Gerald said that up until his recent retirement, when he took on the care of Sandra himself, Nexus Care Services continued to provide an excellent service to him and his wife.
