Read moreIn an inspiring story of determination and resilience, Piers, a client of Nexus Care Services, is set to support the Great British team at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
The XXXIII Olympiad, as it is officially known, will take place from 26 July to 11 August 2024 and see some of the world’s most elite athletes take part in a celebration of sport and human spirit.
Born with cerebral palsy, Piers has always been driven to live as independently as possible. In recent years, facing challenges with daily tasks, he has relied on the support of Nexus Care Services, which has provided a carer to assist him daily with preparations for his long-standing role at NatWest.
This July marks an incredible 46 years of service at the bank for Piers, which coincides with NatWest’s sponsorship of GB athletics at the Paris Olympics.
The bank is providing the official kit for the team, a project Piers is proudly involved in. During the Olympics, Piers will have the special role of distributing these kits to athletes, an opportunity he describes as one that “money can’t buy.”
Reflecting on the support he has received, Piers stated, “Nexus changed my life, it has made a difference. The care from the carers and the people in the office is brilliant. They cater for all parts of the community.”
The highlight of his involvement came when Olympic cyclist Victoria Pendleton visited NatWest’s offices and had a chance to meet piers. This is an experience Piers found exhilarating.
“To meet Victoria and discuss the games was great; to be paid to do that is just brilliant,” added Piers.
Nexus Care Services is proud to support Piers in his journey to the Olympics, demonstrating the incredible achievements and independence that individuals can attain with the right support and care.
“Piers is a testament to the spirit of perseverance and courage. We are thrilled to see him represent not just Nexus but show the world what people with disabilities can achieve when given the opportunity,” said Samuel Court, a Director at Nexus Care Services.
“As the Games approach, Piers is not just participating in an event; he is setting a precedent and inspiring countless others.”
Nexus Care Services and NatWest together celebrate his achievement and contribution to the 2024 Paris Olympics.
