Making a difference in 2023 – Our year of fun, fundraising, and community care

2023 has seen us make significant contributions to the community, demonstrating our commitment to improving lives and supporting vital causes.

Our involvement in various events and initiatives throughout the year has not only raised awareness but also funds for several important charities.

One of our key community engagements was June’s Growing Our Community Together event at Sutton Coldfield Town Hall.

This event, hosted by the Sutton Coldfield Neighbourhood Network Scheme, brought together healthcare professionals, community groups, volunteers, and even the new mayor!

This opportunity allowed us to showcase the events we organise for our clients and the care we provide in Sutton Coldfield.

We are grateful to the Sutton Coldfield Neighbourhood Network Scheme for this platform and look forward to future events.

Moving onto fundraising efforts, our care co-ordinator, Samantha Gordon, participated in this year’s Race for Life for Cancer Research. Tackling the Pretty Muddy 5k Race in Birmingham in July, Samantha overcame obstacles and muddy challenges, raising over £200.

Her personal motivation, having lost friends and family to cancer, fuelled her determination. We are incredibly proud of her achievement and her dedication to supporting Cancer Research.

Another significant event was September’s Memory Walk in Sutton Park, organised by the Alzheimer’s Society in Birmingham.

Over a dozen of our team members participated in this five-kilometre walk, enduring sore feet but driven by a shared commitment to raising awareness for Alzheimer’s.

As carers, we have seen the impact of Alzheimer’s on individuals and families, making our involvement deeply personal. In addition to participating in the walk, we also made a £200 donation to the Alzheimer’s Society, supporting their ongoing fight against this disease.

In September, our successful Macmillan Cancer Coffee Morning raised over £100 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

This event underlines our belief in the importance of social support as a crucial component of any care plan.

We understand the challenges faced by those living with cancer and are committed to providing support wherever we can.

2023 has been a year where Nexus Care Services not only continued to provide exceptional care but also actively engaged in and supported our community.

Through various events and initiatives, we have contributed to important causes, demonstrating our dedication to making a positive impact in the lives of those around us.

In 2024, we aim to increase our involvement in charity events and strengthen our ties with industry partners, all in the pursuit of benefiting our community.
